April was a month for reunions; we met up with my parents, Ed’s parents, and Ed’s brother and girlfriend. I hadn’t seen my parents in six months or Ed’s brother since September 2019, so it was lovely to be able to see each other in person again.

Ed’s parents came up to Birmingham one day over Ed’s spring school holidays and we went for a walk around the Lickey Hills. Maisie usually shoots off ahead as soon as she’s taken off her lead but because she didn’t know the route she stayed close and was extremely affectionate, as always. I love her so much. I never thought I’d love another dog the way I loved Ed’s childhood dog Poppy, but then Maisie came into our lives and my heart just expanded.
