Etched Behind Eyelids | March 2018
It’s the little things my mind commits
To etch behind my eyelids
Like getting stoned when we wake up
Coffee grounds in coffee cups
Your silhouette in high top sneakers
And hardcore from laptop speakers
The classics to the more obscure
From Minor Threat to your old roommate’s band
A new series for the snapshots and little moments from my everyday life. These are over on Flickr, but I thought it’d be nice to have them on my blog too. I take a lot of photos, and I’m trying to capture more video from my everyday life too. It’s fun to look back as the seasons change.
The canal froze over for the first time in seven years. It’s been a really cold winter.
Minou looking beautiful, as always. She’s been extra affectionate recently, and won’t leave my side. Not that I’m complaining.
Cuddles at the piano with a wet jelly nose. As a kitten she used to run and hide when I played violin and piano, but these days she sits beside me and watches or curls up and sleeps.
The streetlight casting shadows through the snowfall onto the blue wall in my music room. The music room is actually our ‘spare’ room but it’s not really spare at all. We both use it as a music room as it’s the room with my digital piano in it, and it’s where I practice violin and Ed plays his guitar. Sometimes my parents stay over and it functions as a conventional spare room, but it’s mostly for music, for editing, and for watching films together on the computer.
The last snowfall. There’s something really peaceful about falling snow.
Beauty in unexpected places. I’d put these roses out on the balcony to take down with the rubbish, but then the snow blew onto them and they looked really pretty again.
Opaline love birds at Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
